Hey guys!
I know this is way out of the league of what I usually write, but this is all about nail polish/nails.
Now, my nails are amazingly stupid. They are the thinnest, weakest things imaginable and the just don't have a chance to grow unless they're hidden away under gels. Or painted.
But seriously, I do love nails. I want my nails to be long and pretty... But that ain't gonna happen (unless by some miracle they stop breaking!)
Okay, so I'm going to start us off with my recommended nail kit essentials.
1. Nail clippers
I am never without nail clippers. If my nail breaks it'll take the whole darn thing that I work so hard to grow with it (it happened this morning with both my pinky nails while I was making breakfast). If it breaks half-way along, cut off the broken bit. Who cares if it looks wonky? The thing is, once your nails start growing the growth will get faster the longer they get.
2. Nail polish
Yes, in a pretty colour please.
3. Nail polish remover
You need a good nail polish remover if you paint your nails heaps. I have used ones with acetone in them for a while and they're fine. They didn't do anything to my nails (because i usually don't remove nail polish with liquid, I get bored and pick it off)
4. Files
You need a really good file. I have a glass one which does an awesome job. Shaping can help speed growth and a good shape can make a stronger nail.
5. Cash
If you muck up your nails so bad that you can't fix them yourself, just go to the salon. It's not very expensive and you'll look really nice when you come out.
Okay so that's the whole kit, now for some tips.
Tip no. 1
Take care of you hands. Yes, your hands, not just nails. Having softer skin around your nails makes it easier for them to grow.
Tip no. 2
To make nail polish dry faster, put your nails into ice water for two minutes, then infront of a heater without towel drying them. This will make the polish set faster and keep it's shine.
Tip no. 3
Get gel nails. Seriously, they're worth the cost. I bit my nails until I got them, then I couldn't. Be careful though, they do lift at the sides sometimes and it's at that point that you NEED to get them fixed. It'll cost a lot less (many salons do it for free) than getting a full new nail/set of nails.
Tip no. 4
Get quality nail polish. Seriously, the more expensive it is the longer it will last. F*** maybelline and ultra 3, get revlon or similar.
That's all for today guys. I'm actually writing this to pass the time while my own nails are drying (my favourite colour to paint them is black, so that's what I'm going with today)
