New Starts!

Hey guys!

I just moved to my new house in Artarmon. It's amazing!!!

There are two little girls here (I'm not going to give you their names for security reasons) L and A. L is 10 and A is nearly 13. They're both so sweet and really nice. They were so excited when I moved in. They helped me unpack then they started to play games with me and everything. It was so much fun!

The mum is Irish, and really nice. She definitely knows how to cook - and she does it well (and often!). I actually have cooked vegetables here, which is a really nice change. She showed me around the neighbourhood yesterday. It's so safe and serene here, I feel totally at home.

This isn't just a place to go after a long day, this is my home. The host mum's first words to me when I walked in the door were actually "Welcome home!"

I've been writing a lot lately, and I have a story going on Wattpad. It's called 'Imagine Fragility' and it's about a full time ballet dancer's struggle with anorexia, helped along by her torn feelings between her best friend and her teacher. It's intense, and I find it hard to concentrate on my homework when a new chapter has just popped into my head!

I have to go to dance now - it's like ONE STOP from here on the train. So hard, I know :P

Talk to you later,

xx Sian

Things that Make Me Smile.

So today was the saddest day of my life in Sydney so far.

I woke up - late of course, not that it mattered cause it was a Sunday - and got up... I felt like crap. Seriously shitty, ya know what I mean. I just missed my family and friends and everything.

So I watched a new movie that I got called "My Sister's Keeper", thinking it would cheer me up. It seemed like a pretty cool movie.

I was wrong.

I cried through the whole thing and that turned out to be exactly what I needed. A really good long cry. It was an amazing movie - and I can identify with the main character so that made it even sadder.

Then I went to lunch with my host families friends. They had a dog just like my one in Canberra. I missed Luci so much that I spent basically the entire lunch cuddling the puppy. It was cheeky and cute - just like my baby girl.

Then I made brownies. The ultimate comfort food. My recipe uses 375 grams of pure chocolate. None of this cocoa power stuff. I'm talking melt chocolate and butter on the stove. Amazeballs. I ate like four of them while waiting for my parents to call.

After a call from my parents, who made me feel so much better, I looked through some old photos. A bad idea yet again.

I saw my friends from Canberra and just felt like I'd lost an entire life there, ya know? I miss everyone so much and I wish that I could go back and see them more often. But I can't, so that's that.

Sorry for the depressing nature of this post. So I'll make it a little happier with another list.

THINGS THAT MAKE ME HAPPY

1. My sister. She has the uncanny ability to brighten up my day one hundred times. Whether I'm two feet away or 350km, at home, in hospital, wherever. Just seeing her smile makes me feel a thousand times better.

2. Sad movies - then happy ones. A good cry is all you need, then watch a really funny or lovey movie.

3. Dancing. Nuff said.

4. Baking! Knowing that if I mix butter, chocolate, sugar, eggs and flour it will get thick is so comforting. And you can have little chef's treats as well.

5. Calls from friends. I love it when my best friends call. Especially when they don't have a reason to. They just want to talk to me.

6. Cleaning. I know it's weird, but cleaning up my space makes me feel like I've accomplished something.

7. Shopping. I am a girl after all! :P

8. Painting my nails. I love having bright, bubbly coloured nails. It makes me feel so much better when I have a pretty pink or a bold blue on my fingertips.

9. Playing old video games. I have an ORIGINAL nintendo DS. Yeah, I know right? Vintage. I play Mario-Kart and Pokemon and sometimes even Sims 2 Pets. I really want the hotel Sims for DS but I can't find it anywhere :(

10. Makeovers!!! I love having people do my hair and makeup, and I especially love when I can do it to them as well!!!!!

And whenever I'm sad, I write a journal. And once my feelings are on paper it's so much easier to just close it up and feel better.

Xx, talk to you guys later.

Nail Polish!!

Hey guys!

I know this is way out of the league of what I usually write, but this is all about nail polish/nails.

Now, my nails are amazingly stupid. They are the thinnest, weakest things imaginable and the just don't have a chance to grow unless they're hidden away under gels. Or painted.

But seriously, I do love nails. I want my nails to be long and pretty... But that ain't gonna happen (unless by some miracle they stop breaking!)

Okay, so I'm going to start us off with my recommended nail kit essentials.

1. Nail clippers

I am never without nail clippers. If my nail breaks it'll take the whole darn thing that I work so hard to grow with it (it happened this morning with both my pinky nails while I was making breakfast). If it breaks half-way along, cut off the broken bit. Who cares if it looks wonky? The thing is, once your nails start growing the growth will get faster the longer they get.

2. Nail polish

Yes, in a pretty colour please.

3. Nail polish remover

You need a good nail polish remover if you paint your nails heaps. I have used ones with acetone in them for a while and they're fine. They didn't do anything to my nails (because i usually don't remove nail polish with liquid, I get bored and pick it off)

4. Files

You need a really good file. I have a glass one which does an awesome job. Shaping can help speed growth and a good shape can make a stronger nail.

5. Cash

If you muck up your nails so bad that you can't fix them yourself, just go to the salon. It's not very expensive and you'll look really nice when you come out.

Okay so that's the whole kit, now for some tips.

Tip no. 1
Take care of you hands. Yes, your hands, not just nails. Having softer skin around your nails makes it easier for them to grow.

Tip no. 2
To make nail polish dry faster, put your nails into ice water for two minutes, then infront of a heater without towel drying them. This will make the polish set faster and keep it's shine.

Tip no. 3
Get gel nails. Seriously, they're worth the cost. I bit my nails until I got them, then I couldn't. Be careful though, they do lift at the sides sometimes and it's at that point that you NEED to get them fixed. It'll cost a lot less (many salons do it for free) than getting a full new nail/set of nails.

Tip no. 4
Get quality nail polish. Seriously, the more expensive it is the longer it will last. F*** maybelline and ultra 3, get revlon or similar.

That's all for today guys. I'm actually writing this to pass the time while my own nails are drying (my favourite colour to paint them is black, so that's what I'm going with today)

Home Sweet Home

Hey guys!

I just got to Sydney yesterday.. It's awesome!

My host family is composed of three other people. Tom, Elle and Annie. Tom is Annie's son and Elle is another boarder.

It's so beautiful here. My room is excellent. It's white (just what I always wanted) and my bed is huge. I've never had anything bigger than a king single and this one is a queen sized bed!

I miss Canberra though. I mean seriously I have a very small number of friends here. But I haven't started at school yet. That's when it's all gonna take off!

I went to see Sydney City Youth Ballet's production of Cinderella last night. It was absolutely gorgeous. My parents dropped me off so I would have something to do while they were leaving.

I'm in Balmain, and I have a view of the bay from the loungeroom window. It's so gorgeous! Especially early in the morning and late at night.

I also have a new cat. His name is Max and he's a sweet little (more like morbidly obese) kitty. He's orange and sleeps a lot. Kind of like Tom!

Anyway, Tom, Elle and I are going to go see HP 7.2 now. It's going to be so epic!

TTYL! xx

Honey! I'm Home!

Sooo sorry I haven't been able to post for ages guys. I couldn't keep up with school, dance and the blog.

Anyway HEAPS has happened! I found a host family an Artarmon, but I'll be staying for some family friends for the first two months. But it's going to be incredible anyway!

I'm moving on the 17th and starting full time on the 18th (of July btw). Silly idea if you ask me, but I'll be okay. I get to do the Advanced 1 holiday school from the 2nd to the 8th of July to get my head around some of the exercises that I have to do for full time. I'm so excited!

I'm doing my Intermediate exam for ballet on the 28th of June, after my goodbye party on the 26th. It's going to be an epic party as well. Heaps of people are coming and I'm getting everything organised.

School exam week just finished (save me!) and I think I went pretty darn well... I mean apart from not knowing almost the whole exam for SOSE cause my teacher has the attention span of a gnat! It was fun. I'm really looking forward to drama performances at the end of the term.

I'm on YouTube (again) for a friend's media project. I'll post the vid here in case you want to see. It's awesome. We were meant to turn the video clip for a cliche hip-hop song into something completely different. I'm fairly sure we acheived that...

Well, I'll talk to you lovely people later. Have an excellent day!
